About This Course

This fee-based course is designed to offer practical guidance and hands-on experience to participants on developing a disaster risk communication plan, thereby improving risk communication and establishing effective risk-informed decisions at all levels. This course looks at risk communication from a multi-hazard and gender perspective, and mainly focuses on natural hazard-induced disasters (both rapid and slow onset), including pandemics such as Covid-19. At the end of the course, participants will be able to raise awareness, knowledge and skills on effective disaster risk communication plan; develop or enhance their draft disaster risk communication plan in the new normal; and identify initiatives and good practices on effective disaster risk communication in the new normal for possible replication.

The course is comprised of 9 modules, 5 modules (Module 1-5) will be in the self-paced online modality and 4 modules (Mudule 6-9) will be in the face to face modality that will be held in Bangkok, Thailand from 16-18 May 2023. The participants are required to complete module 1-5 within 12 May 2023.
